Lego Creator Ecto-1 (set #10274) Brickstuff Kit Product FAQ

What are the details for the pre-order?  Why are you doing this as a pre-order?

We assemble all of our kits by hand, in our shop in Rosemount, Minnesota in the USA.  We're a small team of people who love making the highest-quality kits available anywhere.  We make the kits in small batches, and each "batch" is usually connected with a specific planned delivery month.  We're always planning the next batch, so if you see the delivery date change after you've placed your order, don't worry-- you will always be in the "batch" that was active when you placed your order.
Full payment is required at the time your pre-order is placed.  You can ask for a refund any time before your light and sound kit has shipped by sending an e-mail to our support team.

Should I wait to build my Ecto-1 until I have the light kit?

All of our light and sound kits are designed assuming you have already built your LEGO® set.  By all means, build your Ecto-1 now!  Your kit will include a link to fully illustrated online instructions showing how to complete each step of the installation process.  You can translate the online guide into any language, and you can also print and download a PDF copy of the online instructions if desired.

Do I need to modify my Ecto-1 to install your kit?

We've done most of the work for you by pre-mounting lights into parts like the two roof lightbars.  For any parts that need to change (such as the wheel-driven roof rotation mechanism), we provide all of the additional LEGO® parts you need.

What else do I need to make the light and sound kit work?

The kit includes our USB power cable, which you can use with any iPhone or iPad-type wall charger to power your Ecto-1.  You can also use a USB battery bank.  If you would like to power your kit internally, you can purchase one of our 3xAA battery packs separately, or the preferred method is to use our LiPo rechargeable battery power source.  You will have the option when placing your pre-order to include a LiPo power at a special discounted price.
If you purchase the LiPo power source, you will also need to purchase a LiPo battery and LiPo charger separately.  You can read a list of recommended batteries and chargers here.

Do I need to buy a motor from LEGO® for the rotating roof equipment?

Nope, everything you need is in our kit!

I already have extra USB cables.  Why do I need yours?

Our USB cables have our custom power connector on one end, so this is the only way to connect a USB output to our lighting system.

Can I use one of your other power sources to power the Ecto-1?

Yes.  Our Power Functions power sources will work, as will our 3AA battery pack, though the AA battery pack is not recommended because it won't keep your Ecto's lights and sound running for very long.  None of our single-battery power supplies or coin cell packs will work with this kit.

I don't want all of the features of the "full" kit.  Can I order parts individually?

We may decide to offer this option eventually, but demand for kits is so strong that we need to focus on only offering complete kits for the time being.
